Biography

Dr. Christine Horn is a lecturer, programme chair, and researcher at the Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT) in Ireland. She teaches in the Entrepreneurship Programmes, covering subjects such as Business Mathematics and Ethics, and in the Applied Psychology Programme, where she delivers modules on Research Methods and Statistics and Advanced Research in Psychology. Dr. Horn also serves as a fourth-year tutor in the Applied Psychology programme and is an active member of both the IADT Teaching and Learning Committee and the FACT Ethics Committee.

Her academic background includes a degree from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Dr. Horn’s research interests span mathematical identity, motivation in higher education, and universal design for learning (UDL). She has co-authored studies on mathematical identity among third-level students in Ireland and on the first-year student experience at university.

Dr. Horn is recognised as a Universal Design Champion at IADT, with her work highlighted in the institute’s UDL case studies. She has developed and implemented inclusive teaching strategies, notably designing a student-centred introduction to data analysis using Excel, which has contributed to more accessible and engaging learning environments. Her commitment to accessibility and educational innovation is evident through her contributions to UDL initiatives and her leadership in curriculum development.

In addition to her teaching and research, Dr. Horn is the Programme Chair for Digital Entrepreneurship at IADT, where she continues to advance educational practice and student support in both business and psychology disciplines
