Biography
Dr. Martina Mullaney is an accomplished artist and academic currently serving as Research Co-Ordinator for FilmEU European University at the Institute of Art, Design and Technology in Dublin (IADT). Previously, she was the Irish Post-Doctoral Researcher for the joint-funded Arts and Humanities Research Council (UK)/Irish Research Council Feminist Art Making Histories Project.
Dr. Mullaney holds an MA from the Royal College of Art, London, and an AHRC-funded PhD from the University of Reading. Her research explores how art focused on maternity can transcend its immediate audience. In 2021, she convened "The Missing Mother" Conference and subsequently co-edited "The Missing Mother" anthology with Professor Andrea O'Reilly, published by Demeter Press at York University, Toronto, in 2025.
Her distinguished career includes receiving the Red Mansion Art Prize (London and China) and completing artist residencies with BALENCIAGA (Paris), The British Council (Sri Lanka and Tbilisi, Georgia), and The Gallery of Photography (Dublin). Her work has been exhibited internationally at prestigious venues including Yossi Milo Gallery (New York), Fraenkel Gallery (San Francisco), Artwall Gallery (Prague), and Cork Film Center (Ireland). Dr. Mullaney is also the founder of "Enemies of Good Art" in London.
