Project Details
Description
This project is led by a team of IADT students, Kacper Jaroszyński, Tariq Horan-and Clodagh Walsh, mentored by academic supervisors/leads, in collaboration with IADT Student Support Officers. The project's primary goal is to develop a web application that follows principles of Universal Design, making information about student services easy to access, upload, and comprehend. The tool is designed so support officers can easily edit and update the information they provide to students.
The project aims to create a content and design framework that simplifies information about student services, making it tailored for students and universally accessible. Based on the project’s findings, this framework could be used sector-wide to ensure that content is easy to comprehend for all college students.
The initiative is also focused on developing a brand identity to streamline IADT supports and facilitate both physical and digital awareness campaigns, increasing the visibility and accessibility of support services.
The project was presented at the N-TUTORR Partners in Innovation Fellowship Leaders networking event and is recognised as a student-led initiative to redesign and improve IADT Student Support. The team is working to change how students access supports and information, and how support officers can reach out to students and upload helpful resources. The design is informed by Universal Design for Learning principles, aiming for a single, universally accessible port of call for any student needing help or information.
The project proposal was submitted to and won the N-TUTORR competition, securing funding for its development. The application also specifically considers inclusivity, catering to neurodivergent students’ needs. The development process included planning, design, implementation, and iterative testing, with positive results regarding usability and functionality.
