Biography

Tim Lloyd is a lecturer and Year Head of the BA (Hons) Art at the Institute of Art, Design + Technology (IADT), Dún Laoghaire, where he teaches across studio modules and supports students in building an experimental, research-informed art practice. His teaching focuses on contemporary art practices, critical enquiry and peer-led learning, with a strong emphasis on working across media and engaging with context, site and audience. Tim also teaches Introduction to Non-Narrative & Experimental Film Making as part of the Creative Futures Academy.

Tim's scholarly and creative activity is rooted in practice-based research. He is one of the devisers and developers of The Place Project, an ongoing partnership between IADT and the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) that explores “place” through student-led, site-specific artworks and public presentations. He also contributes to staff exhibitions and research-led events at IADT, including the Parallels exhibition, where his own studio practice is presented alongside colleagues’ work to open up conversations on experimentation, process and contemporary art education. Tim also teaches non-linear experimental film making as part of the Creative Futures Academy.

Through these activities, Tim’s work integrates teaching, practice and public engagement, foregrounding artistic research as a way of generating new forms of knowledge within both the studio and institutional settings. His role includes mentoring students, contributing to curriculum delivery, and developing collaborative platforms that connect IADT with wider arts and cultural networks.
