Biography
Fiona Snow is the Academic Lead (Teaching and Learning) at the Creative Futures Academy, Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT) Dún Laoghaire, a position she has held since June 2021. In this role, she drives the enhancement of teaching methodologies and learning outcomes across the Academy. Fiona also lectures within the 3D Design curriculum, engaging students with both physical and digital subjects.
Recognising her contributions to pedagogical innovation, Fiona is a recipient of the Disciplinary Excellence in Teaching and Learning (DELTA) Award from the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning. She has also secured significant funding for innovative projects from a range of funders. She co-manages a Materials Library project within IADT's academic library, which aims to provide creative arts students with hands-on access to material samples and a searchable digital database. She also led the Creative Cognition Framework (CCF) project, securing HEA SATLE funding to pilot and research a toolkit for designing meaningful Art and Design learning environments.
An active member of the academic community, Fiona serves as the IADT Associate member of the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. She is also a member of the Design Research Society and the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland. She serves as a Blended Learning and Subject Matter Expert for the Art & Design Reevaluation Panel with Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI).
Fiona is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education at Trinity College Dublin, focusing on the development and evaluation of a certificate in Teaching and Learning for studio-based creative arts educators.
