Biography

Eilís Nolan is an academic and an animation professional. She is currently an Assistant Lecturer at Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT). 

She previously worked across the 2D animation pipeline, including design and scriptwriting roles. She has previously worked as a 2D animation lecturer in both Pulse College and across the first year electives in IADT. 

Her research is primarily focused on the relationship between disease and visual media. Following her MA by Research in 2022, which explored the relationship between societal perceptions of disease and its portrayal in visual media, she is currently pursuing a PhD on the residue of COVID-19 in visual media today. This research is being conducted through the co-supervisory scheme between IADT and Maynooth University. 

Her personal research is interdisciplinary and includes additional areas such as animation, reception studies, and popular culture. She has presented her work at several conferences, including the Conference of AG Animation in Denmark and Console-ing Passions 2025 in Atlanta, GA.
