I am a film and media lecturer at IADT and a writer and researcher in the field of Irish Cinema, Women in Film and Film Archives. I have extensive research experience, individually and collaboratively, leading to a wide publication record and extensive creative output. I have authored two books about film and documentary in Ireland and many peer-reviewed papers, articles and critical reviews. As an academic, I have led teams in programme development, strategy, implementation and consolidation. My professional membership includes the International Screenwriting Research Network (SRN), a global network committed to the ongoing development of academic and pedagogic enquiry into screenwriting. I am a member of the Film EU Research Project in ‘Industrial Films and Archives’ and as Principal Investigator, I led an application team from QUB and IADT for funding under the HEA North-South funding call in 2021. I work in the field of creative use of archives, telling stories that combine documentary evidence, narrative strategies and imagination. My professional experience includes teaching at under-graduate and post-graduate level, research supervision, production work and scriptwriting for film and television. I have successfully steered the development and implementation of three highly successful under-graduate programmes and a series of post-graduate programmes, as well as supervising under-graduate and post-graduate research, including practice-led research. I have a wide range of professional networks, nationally and internationally, in my expert discipline and in higher education, in Ireland and abroad.
