Biography

David Cooper is a broadcast professional and lecturer at IADT’s National Film School, with more than 35 years of experience in television and live broadcast production. Over his career, he has worked across many aspects of the industry, including documentary production, studio operations, editing, lighting, and outside broadcasts. This broad experience has given him both strong technical expertise and a clear understanding of creative production work. In addition to hands‑on roles, David has also contributed to the technical design, setup, and management of studios and broadcast systems.

At IADT, David lectures across the Film and Television, Creative Media Technology, and Creative Music Production programmes, focusing on practical, industry‑relevant skills for both studio and location work. He also teaches on the Masters in Broadcast Production (Radio and Television), where he helps students build advanced skills in live broadcasting, multi‑camera production, and studio operation.

David holds a Masters in Broadcast Production (Radio and Television) from IADT. His key areas of expertise include live studio broadcasting, camera work, news and current affairs editing, and technical studio design. He is known for bringing real‑world industry practice into his teaching, helping students develop the confidence and ability to move directly into professional roles in television and media.
