Biography
Clyde Doyle is a lecturer, designer, and researcher based at the Institute of Art, Design + Technology (IADT) in Dún Laoghaire, Ireland. With over a decade of experience in higher education, Clyde teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including 3D Design, Model Making + Digital Art, the BA in Design for Film, and the MA in Design for Change. He is also a co-chair of the MA in Design for Change, delivered in partnership with the Institute without Boundaries at George Brown College, Toronto.
Clyde is a principal investigator and co-founder of IADT’s Public Design Lab, where he leads interdisciplinary research projects focused on design for social and environmental good. His research interests span non-anthropocentric and ecological design methodologies, participatory design, and creative economies. He has co-led major initiatives such as "Towards a Creative Dún Laoghaire," which fostered collaboration between IADT and local stakeholders to support regional creative industries.
Currently undertaking a PhD in Design at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD), Clyde’s work explores innovative approaches to ecological design practice. He has published on topics including the Maker Movement’s educational potential and is an advocate for integrating critical and speculative design into teaching and research.
Clyde’s commitment to creative and critical pedagogy, along with his leadership in public engagement and cross-sectoral collaboration, make him a dynamic contributor to Ireland’s design education landscape.
