Biography
Dr. Andrew Errity is the Head of the Department of Technology & Psychology at the Institute of Art, Design & Technology (IADT) in Dún Laoghaire, Ireland. He earned a BSc (Hons) in Computer Applications from Dublin City University (DCU), followed by a PhD in Speech Signal Processing, also at DCU.
At IADT, Dr. Errity leads a multidisciplinary department that offers undergraduate programmes in Creative Computing, Game Design, Creative Music Production, Immersive Media Production, and Applied Psychology. He also oversees postgraduate programmes in Cyberpsychology and User Experience Design, along with a range of microcredentials aimed at professional development and lifelong learning.
Research interests
Dr. Errity's research interests include signal processing, machine learning, and various aspects of human-computer interaction, particularly spoken language.
Dr. Errity has acted as reviewer for the following conferences: CyberPsychology, CyberTherapy & Social Networking Conference; British Computer Society Human-Computer Interaction; IEEE Int. Multitopic Conf.; IEEE Workshop on Statistical Signal Processing; Int. Conf. on Signal Processing and Communication Systems; Int. Conf. on Innovations in Information Technology.
Teaching
Dr. Errity has taught and supervised students studying topics including programming, operating systems, computer architecture, networks, databases, electronics, human-computer interaction, user experience design, and data visualisation.
Other activities
Dr. Errity is a member of the Management Committee of the Creative Futures Academy - a Human Capital Initiative (HCI) Pillar 3 funded collaboration between IADT, UCD and NCAD.
Dr. Errity has previously acted as Institutional Lead on the HCI-funded Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) project and the Novel Tertiary programme initiative.
Dr. Errity has collaborated with industry partners on projects involving software development, user interface/user experience consultancy, and data visualisation, many of which have been facilitated through the Enterprise Ireland Innovation Vouchers scheme.
